They emphasize in our municipality the hiking routes in which the hiker will be able to admire the beauty of the landscapes and will enjoy surroundings very little affected by the human activity. Within the most outstanding routes we indicated:
_THE ROUTE OF THE CARBOEIROS
This route is born in commemoration of an activity that extra the familiar economy of many families of the most mountainous zones of our municipality (Portocamba, Campobecerros, Sanguñedo, Fertile valley of Nostre, Fontefría and, to a lesser extent, Piornedo and Servoi).
The coal was elaborated with roots of torgo, a shrub of high mountain; the aerial part of the plant was cut to him and later the part buried (roots) with hoes was taken and they were piled up in a pile. On the other hand, the brazier, a hole was prepared more or less great Earth fact, where the roots lay down and fire catch oned to him so that the live coals were burned and the coal became. When it finished burning, it was covered with earth so that the coal became. Once fact, kept in coats and it lowered in donkeys or males in the direction of the towns of the valley and to the villas. The most habitual clients were the blacksmiths of the villages and the people of the villas. The route is made up of a central vertebra of 17km. compares to the highway of local or regional importance OU-114 that unites Vilamaior with Campobecerros. That route leaves Campobecerros and crosses the Candal, Penanofre, mounts of Servoi and two Alto Friles until arriving at Castrelo do Val. From that central route divides derivations for the towns of Fontefría, Villar, Servoi, Ribas, Pepín and Castrelo do Val.
_ROUTE OF THE CIRCUIT GALAICO-LUSO
the Camiñata de Montaña de Castrelo do Val consists of 50km. Divided in three stages of low, average difficulty and high, it passes to a large extent by the two Route Carboeiros and arrives until the limits of the Natural Park of Invernadeiro. This long walk scores for the Galician Championship de Seneirismo and is organized by the Municipality of Castrelo do Val and by the Galaico-Luso Circuit. Resorted: 50km.

_PORTOZÓN ROUTE
the "Route do Portozón" leaves from the denominated zone "the Terrón" in Castrelo do Val, raises towards the town of Pepín, crossing it and directing themselves towards the town of Ribas, from where the river is bordered to be united to the two Route Carboeiros. Following that way, it arrives until the Friles and it raises until the town of San Paio. From it is directed there to the viewpoint of Portozón, where if it can see a perfect Vista panoramic of the Val de Monterrei and returned by the irrigated land channel that, in times, it supplied to the town of Gondulfes, to return to begin with until the point. The route can be done so much on foot as by bike.

_CASTELIÑO ROUTE
The "Route do Casteliño" has its departure point in the denominated zone "the Terrón", in Castrelo do Val, and initiates its long walk towards Ribas. Later it goes to the town of Pepín, crossing it and leaving in the "Stop Bonds" in the direction of Nocedo do Val, crosses the town and it returns by "Covered" a, "Casteliño", "Salgada", "Trascarreira" and finishes again in the zone of "o Terón". It has a route of about 8 kilometers, to make on foot or by bicycle.
